This is not going to be a platinum album. It is not going to break out on the Top-40 charts. You won't see any videos on MTV. But you are going to have a damn good time listening to Truth in Advertising's Inconsequential Background Music. The sound is lo-fi, the attitude is hi-spirited and the music is just a lot of fun.
Comprised of Fred Betzner, Sean ODonnell, Aaron Rolka and Ryan Schwartz, Truth in Advertising is a band based in Pittsburgh. Their music mixes styles and influences from the Violent Femmes, They Might Be Giants and Barenaked Ladies to The Shins, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Phish. They played at small colleges and local clubs until December of 2004, when playing live was made more difficult by each member of the band living in a different state. However, being the dedicated, tenacious boys their parents never thought they would become, Sean and Ryan finished recording, mixing and mastering the album in 2005, and it was released by Monkey Corner Records in December of 2005.

IBM (as the album is affectionately known) was recorded (mainly) the Polish Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh and self(-)produced. The eleven tracks on the album span psychedelic fancy (Field of Whimsy), rock-pop (F.Y.I. Love You), bizarre love (Soccer Cat) and more.
IBM is available at Pittsburgh-area CD stores such as Dave's Music Mine and Paul's CDs and can also be purchased online at http://www.monkeycorner.net or through iTunes.
This album's energy captures the exuberance that Truth in Advertising lived for, and we know you will enjoy your listen.
